Texas Trip

Having an evening on the houseboat looking at the lights of Seattle

Two weeks ago we went to Texas to visit Grandad (Miranda's Dad) and Grammy Dianna. The were so nice to us by getting all the things we would need for our trip so we could travel light. Well, as light as you can travel with your first kid. I say that because I assume (and hope) that people figure out what things are truly essential by the time they have a second kid.  We went for a long weekend and still checked one suitcase and got on the plane with three carry-ons including a very large diaper bag stuffed with enough stuff to last us a week - it seemed.
Plane travel is getting increasingly difficult with Declan. The first few trips we took with him were really very easy. He slept through most of them. But now it is like wrestling a a little pig the entire flight. He is so squirmy! We brought lots of new snacks, and toys, and books, but he still mostly wanted to climb into strangers laps and throw things through the cracks of seats at the people sitting behind us.  We parents certainly had some moments when were were thinking we were crazy.

However, at the end of the flight we had many people compliment us on how well behaved he was. Declan went through all the toys, books and snacks, most of the diapers, and never slept a wink.  Of course he passed out as soon as we got off the plane and were waiting for our bag.

While we were in Fort Worth, Declan got to go to the zoo. He really liked the Elephant, Wart Hog and the Flamingos. He hated the carousel, but seemed to enjoy the little train ride. Monstly he liked hanging out with his Grandad!
Petting Cowboy

Almost big enough for the Horsey tire-swing

Checking out the REAL hosre

Perched on Grandad's shoulders

Going back to the house after feeding the horse

Declan and the Gorilla

Apparently Wart Hogs are facinating...

Staring at the Wart Hog

Checking out the Elephant

Declan is already wary of the Carousel and it has not even started

Still not pleased

But he liked the train ride!

Thanks for the loads and loads of pictures. I love them! I especially like comparing them to earlier pictures to see how much Declan has grown and developed. How much fun for your dad to see his grandson! Starting to get concerned about the plane ride to Germany?
